HVLS fans slowly circulate a large amount of air as the air is pulled from above the fan and pushed down in a conical shape to the floor below. These highly efficient, cost-saving fans are now being used in warehouses, distribution centers, gymnasiums and a variety of other applications. Rotating at an optimized low speed, Rite-Hite’s HVLS fans move the most air over the largest area at the lowest cost.
HVLS fans offer benefits year-round by creating a more comfortable environment while saving on energy costs. They keep people cool in the summer, and in the winter, they can be used for destratification - a process that mixes warm air from the ceiling with cooler air at the floor.
With the Fan-Commander Touch Screen Control Station, users can optimize the year-round performance of Rite-Hite HVLS fans throughout a single facility, maximizing the energy savings and comfort they deliver.
Costing only a few cents an hour to operate, Rite Hite HVLS fans allow you to save on energy costs by increasing the thermostat temperature while maximizing the comfort level when it’s hot or by warming the facility through destratification when it’s cold. This helps save significant money on energy and heating bills, especially in larger facilities.
Cooling
The increased air movement caused by our Revolution HVLS fan reduces effective temperatures and can make the air feel up to 7°F (4°C) cooler.
Air speed produces a wind chill factor, which lowers the effective temperature, giving a person the sensation of being exposed to a lower temperature than the actual measured temperature. HVLS fans are also an ideal supplement to air conditioning, allowing a facility to raise set points by as much as 4°F (2°C) without a noticeable change in comfort. Increasing set point can reduce summertime energy consumption by as much as 20%.
Heating | Destratification
HVLS fans operating in the winter will mix the warmer air at the ceiling with the cooler air at the floor to even the temperature throughout the space (illustrated below). This process, called destratification, can reduce a facility’s energy consumption by up to 30% - meaning typical payback periods for our fans are between 6 months and 2 years.
Comfort
Rite-Hite HVLS fans provide year-round comfort for employees, customers and other visitors to your facility. In addition to keeping the temperature comfortable, our fans can also help reduce the chance of a heat stress and help eliminate illness associated with “sick” buildings by improving indoor air quality.
Environment
HVLS fans can contribute to earning LEED credits in the following categories:
In addition, many state, federal and local utilities offer rebates and incentives for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. To learn what is available in your area, visit the US Department of Energy’s Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency.
